A New Patient Experience

Digital Denture Process

A fully digital denture process makes patients smile more. Many of the pain points in the process are removed, making the dentist and lab look great in the process. Let’s explore some of the differences in patient experience.

The First Visit

The first visit includes an 3D scanned impression and bite registration measurement. This replaces the traditional impression process. No more messy material or triggering the patient’s gag reflex, or repeating the process as the impression isn’t good enough to use for building a denture. Custom impression trays are never needed since traditional impressions are no longer taken. Before the patient leaves, they will spend 15 minutes deprogramming their jaw and using a DentAlgorithms Acquired Bite Calculator (ABC) to take a bite registration. Our mathematical models built off of bone-supported anchor points make this process possible. The first visit will last from 30-60 minutes.

The Interim Visits

Go ahead and cancel the next series of visits I refer to as the wax try-in loop. No one likes to deal with wax. It is unforgiving. If not bitten correctly the first time, the process has to be repeated. Patients don’t like to keep coming in to try again. If the try-in is not approved, everything is reset. Many patients experience wax try-ins as a two to three time procedure. Lucky for our patients we no longer have a need to do wax try-ins! These visits are skipped. This is made possible by our Teeth Orientation System (TOS) mathematical algorithms, along with the results of the ABC bite measurements.

Final Visit

The second and final visit for the bulk of dentures made with Dentalgorithms includes putting the final denture in the patients mouth. Imagine a 2 visit denture process! Dentalgorithms TOS mathematically places the teeth in the ideal position, the ABC measurement allowing us to digitally adjust the bite. You will notice this combination produces superior results for patients. The fit, function, and aesthetics of the new denture will make sure your patient leaves happy with a beautiful new smile.
