Digital Denture Process
The DentAlgorithms Digital Denture process is a sigh of relief for many dentists, especially those with rare or infrequent exposure to the denture process. Let me explain.

Many dentists are booked out, leaving room to handle urgent patients. Denture patients generally require several visits. For this and other reasons, many dentists opt to avoid denture cases. Each mistake in the process, from impression to try-in, is another patient that the dentist can’t otherwise schedule. Due to the opportunity for manual error, accentuated by infrequent denture case load of a given dentist often creates an unpredictable number of visits, each eating into the profit of the denture while creating a poor patient experience. Luckily, 3D scanners, with DentAlgorithms Acquired Bite Calculator (ABC) and Teeth Orientation System (TOS) take a lot of guess work out of the process. With an added dose of predictability and confidence in the denture process, and the new simplicity of the process, dentists on the sideline should seriously consider getting in the game.
The First Visit
Let’s walk through the patient’s initial visit. The dentist or an assistant takes a 3D image of the patient’s mouth. The instant picture on the computer screen visually shows when the procedure is sufficient, and to a high enough fidelity to create an accurate denture. The problems of the patient adjusting the impression no longer exist, no materials are mixed or cleaned up after the fact following infection control procedures. Since the dentist has increased confidence that the scan accurately reflects the patient’s mouth, we can move on to measuring the patient’s bite with an ABC, also on the first visit.Within 30-60 minutes we’ve completed in one visit what normally would have taken two. It is also done with minimum training. These procedures are simple to administer.
After the visit, coordinating with the lab couldn’t be easier. The upper and lower mouth 3D scans, along with a picture of the Acquired Bite Calculator, are simply sent electronically to the lab of choice
Final Visit
Finally, the second visit with the patient the final denture is placed in the mouth, fully adjusted for the patient’s acquired bite. Notice the traditional steps of bite blocks and wax try-ins are no longer part of the fitting process. Skipping these traditional steps is made possible by the algorithms in the DentAlgorithms Teeth Orientation System.
